Main MARINE cable, required to diagnose most vehicles.
This cable can be used alone (Blink-code diagnosis without connection to the engine) or as a main cable along with a dedicated terminal cable, specific to the vehicle to diagnose.
This cable can be identified by a BLACK CAP with an LED. It is comprised of 2 connectors, a 2-way female (possible external power supply) and a 4-way male (communication connector).
USE AS A MAIN CABLE (ex : AM01 + AM02) :
Connect the terminal cable associated with the vehicle to diagnose (ex : AM02) to the 4-way connector of the AM01 cable. Upon request by the software, connect the power supply clamps to the 2-way connector, and to the vehicle's battery in order to power on the diagnostic tool.
NOTE : The AM01 cable is a versatile cable which is compatible with most manufacturers, but it may not be compatible with some specific functions and protocols. It should not be confused with the AM01 CAN cable, which looks similiar but is identifyable by a dedicated sticker and a RED CAP.
Please pay close attention to the instructions provided by the software in regards to this cable's use, which terminal cable to use, and whether or not external power supply is required.
USE IN BLINK-CODE DIAGNOSIS :
For some manufacturers such as TOHATSU OUTBOARDS, the AM01 cable can be used in "blink-code" diagnosis, where communication with the vehicle's ECU is not required. In this case, simply connect the AM01 cable to the diagnostic tool and power it using either an external battery, or the vehicle's battery.
